AT 8000 METERS WITH FREDRIK STRÄNG

Death Zone +8000 is an intense museum experience about humanity’s encounter with the extreme. Follow adventurer Fredrik Sträng to the world’s highest peaks, to altitudes where every breath counts, the cold cuts deep, and the mind is pushed to its limits. Through film, sound, and personal accounts, you step directly into the zone where survival is never guaranteed.

At 8,000 meters, there are no comforts. Only a thin layer of fabric stands between you and the wind, the cold, and the lack of oxygen. Here, the body recovers slowly — if it recovers at all. This is as close to “home” as you get in the Death Zone.

The mountains here are not beautiful in the traditional sense. They are massive, unforgiving, and completely indifferent to human will. Every step upward demands respect, discipline, and decisions that cannot be undone.

In Death Zone, there are no breaks. The strain on the body and mind continues around the clock, whether you are climbing, resting, or trying to sleep. Fatigue, lack of oxygen, and fear merge into a constant state that must be managed — hour by hour.

No one stands here by accident. The path to this point demands years of preparation, failures, and compromises. And once you are here, there is no guarantee you will return as the same person.

WHAT ÄVENTYRS IS AND STANDS FOR

About Äventyrs – The Adventure Museum

Äventyrs – The Adventure Museum in Stockholm was created to inspire people to grow – both as individuals and as a society. For us, adventure is more than extreme expeditions and dramatic landscapes. It is about courage, curiosity, and daring to dream in a world shaped by stress, pressure, and a lack of direction.

We believe many of society’s challenges stem from this very issue: lost dreams. When life is reduced to performance and routine, we lose touch with what makes us feel truly alive. Yet human nature is rooted in exploration, in pushing boundaries, and in turning the impossible into reality.

At Äventyrs, people, nature, and stories from around the world come together. Through photography, film, and documentation, we aim to reignite that inner drive—encouraging reflection, connection, and responsibility for ourselves and the planet. A museum that not only shows what humanity has done, but reminds us of what we are still capable of becoming.
